Interview

What is your inspiration? What music do you listen to/are you influenced by?

Mr Fox: Inspiration, influences: traditional music and electronic music mostly techno, progressive and downtempo.

Nathan: A lot of my inspiration comes from feelings i experienced myself on all kinds of dance floors, I try to recreate and share those feelings in my music.

In everyday life I listen to a lot of electronic music of course, but I try to have no limitations, so the music just needs to be good, and any genre can be good :)

What are you bringing to Bohemia? Have you ever been here?

Mr Fox: never been to Bohemia, will bring good vibes.

N: I have never been there, but I think bringing our music and good energy is a good start.

Your favourite festival? What was your best gig ever?

Mr Fox:

One of my favorite festival is Isis garden festival. My best gig ever was the Boom festival 2014, I played there with my past project for the opening on the dance temple, wild experience !

N: not really any favorite, Ozora is kind of special to me, as it was my first experience with a psychedelic festival, back in 2011

Again, really difficult to pick a favorite gig, Son Libre was awesome last year, as it was really massive, but as they say, the size doesn’t really matter :)

How did you come to your artist/stage name?

The name started as a wordplay, it sounded catchy at first, and then we found some more meaning to it, “Watt ” refers to the electronic part of our project, and “the Fox ” represents the organic side.

Your favourite synthetisers? Can you briefly describe how do you produce your music? Do you master it by yourself?

Mr Fox:

i don’t play synthetizers but i love Nathan’s nord. We have different ways to produce music sometimes we start recording the traditionnal instruments and build around these ideas sometimes we start with the electronic and synthetizors parts

N: Again, I’m really not a guy who has favorites, all the synths I have have their own character, and are good at something. Of course I love my Moog Sub37, the sound is amazing. The nord lead is really nice too, doesn’t sound the same, but again, it doesn’t do the same thing, so you can say they are both my favorite, and my modular rack does things that no other synths can do, so, favorite too! :)

The creative process depends, is not always the same, sometimes we start with the rhythmic/electronic part, and search how we can integrate instruments in it, sometimes the opposite, sometimes we find a nice sample, and build around it, it really depends… The only rule is, there is no rule!

I do all the mixing process, and most of the time, mastering as well :)

What is your relationship to the fire?

Mr Fox:

its perfect to play music with fire its a good inspiration, i love it also just for chilling, i can watch it for ages, its always a good movie  !

N: I would say that fire represents intensity, it’s intense to look at, it’s intense to touch (if you can^^), it sounds amazing also!

What do you consider to be the greatest success of yours?

Mr Fox: creating music with Nathan, and live performance is always a good success, it’s an everyday life challenge.

N: being able to do what we do right now, is already a big success! And in general, i’m really happy with all my travel through the musical universe :)

What did the psytrance/psychedelic culture give you?

Mr Fox:

it help me to dance and let go , i love dancing with psychedelic music, its also a good way to meet people, psychedelic culture is a big family and it influenced my choices and my life in general

What do you do to have some fun/ how do you relax?

Mr Fox:

i surf, play hang drum and percussions

N: Seeing my friends, I love to cook, watch good movies, search for good music, take naps :p

How do you imagine perfect Saturday morning on the festival?

Mr Fox:

either after a good sleep and return to the dancefloor with fresh energy, either after a long night hiting the dancefloor with friends but both always with the sun and good music

N: a perfect sunday would probably imply not to party so much on saturday night, but it’s really difficult for me :)

Beer or wine?

Mr Fox: definitly beer or juice

N: beer for party, but wine with a good meal! (no favorite :p)
