Zenon records

Triforce are an Australian dark techno / progressive psytrance project consisting of Australian producers Charlotte Lohmann & Ryan Smith.

Creating music together and experimenting with a variety of genres for 7 years has lead them to form a rich musical bond, resulting in a unique sound that sits in the mysterious and uncharted territory between hard/dark techno and psytrance. Combining organic eastern timbres and hypnotic techno riffs, they aim to breath rich melody and beautifully orchestrated motifs into their original productions.

Triforce signed to Zenon Records in May 2017 and have released 2 EP’s with the label “Lifeblood” and “Impulse”.

Triforce have travelled across the globe to spread their unique sound playing festivals and clubs such as Boom Festival, Ozora Festival, Modem Festival, Sisyphos, Freqs Of Nature, Lost Theory, Rainbow Serpent, S.U.N. Festival, Rummels Bucht, Tree of Life, Pulsar (Brazil), Adhana Festival Warm up (Brazil) , Triplicity, Parvati Peaking & Australian festivals Earth Frequency, Dragon Dreaming, Psyfari, Subsonic, Earthcore, Rabbits Eats Lettuce and Strawberry Fields.

Interview

What is your inspiration? What music do you listen to/are you influenced by?

Our inspiration comes from a variety of places! Nature, video games and cinematic music.

Our favourite artists are: Cloudkicker, Northlane, Karnivool, Helldriver, Kliment,

What are you bringing to Bohemia? Have you ever been here?

We have never been before and will be bringing our warm Australian spirit ;)

How do you see the Czech psychedelic/psytrance scene compared to others?

We have not had the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the Czech psychedelic scene just yet, so we are quite excited to see how the feeling is when we come this year!

Your favourite festival? What was your best gig ever?

Our favorite festival is Modem! The best gig we ever played was Boom Festival 2018 on the Alchemy stage!

How did you come to your artist/stage name?

Well Triforce comes from the video game Zelda! We used to be an 8 bit project waaay back in the day and evolved through many configurations and genres leading us to this point but the name stayed the same.

Your favourite synthesizers? Can you briefly describe how you produce your music? Do you master it by yourself?

We don’t have a specific favorite synth & bounce between many different tools to create our music! We produce using ableton mostly ‘in the box’ & bounce ideas back and forth between each other. We do not master our own music as we believe this is an art form in its own right & therefore allow the masters of that craft to do it for us :)

What is your relationship to the fire?

Fire holds an interesting & bittersweet part in our lives given that it causes so much destruction here in Australia. That said, it also is a source of new life allowing many of our native plants to germinate and grow again. It is a powerful force of nature we give a-lot of respect to.

What do you consider to be the greatest success of yours?

Our greatest success has been performing at some of the biggest European psytrance festivals & having our unique sound so positively received by the people of the world. Releasing on Zenon Records & playing at Boom Festival have been our best successes.

What did the psytrance/psychedelic culture give you?

The psytrance culture has given us the space to be free & loved without judgement by our peers. It gave us a safe place to explore alternative ideas & ways of living, ultimately allowing us to grow as both humans and artists.

What do you do to have some fun/how do you relax?

We both like to spend time in nature, hiking, surfing, camping & taking in the peace. We occasionally play some video games & enjoy spending time with our friends & family.

How do you imagine a perfect Saturday morning at the festival?

A warm coffee or chai tea & morning session of ambient downtempo music as the sun rises :)

Beer or wine?

Both depending on the occasion!
